MISSION LUBBOCK DISTRIBUTES COATS TO THOSE IN NEED
LUBBOCK, Texas, January 20, 2011 - With more cold weather headed to Lubbock in the upcoming weeks, Mission Lubbock will be distributing coats to individuals and families in need every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mission Lubbock is located at 1711 Upland.
Mission Lubbock is a community ministry dedicated to helping individuals and families going through difficult times by providing necessary items such as clothing and shoes, furniture, household items, linens and bedding, personal hygiene items, basic school supplies and food boxes.
This winter, Mission Lubbock is able to better serve those in need thanks to Kingsgate Center. Kingsgate hosted a coat drive in December that successfully collected more than 600 coats along with hats, gloves and some additional cold weather clothing.
"We are thrilled that the drive was such a success. Mission Lubbock's ministry and partnership with so many area agencies make them a perfect recipient for the coats. Through their network, they can immediately make a difference for people in our community," said Christy McClendon of GRACO, on behalf of Kingsgate Center.
"We really appreciate Kingsgate's effort in collecting so many coats. You have blessed so many people already and will bless many more," said Judy Cooper of Mission Lubbock.
Though Mission Lubbock won't be open again until next Tuesday, coats from this drive will be distributed at network partner R.E.A.C.H. Ministry's event called Adopt-A-Block, which will be 11:30 am Saturday at 65th & Avenue U, in Lubbock's #1 at-risk youth neighborhood.
